Amwaj Gateway award EMCO MEP Contract




Amwaj Gateway Development Company (AGDC), a subsidiary of RealCAPITA, has awarded EMCO the MEP contract, worth $ 45 million for the Amwaj Gateway Project.

Present at the signing ceremony was Vice Chairman of AGDC Mr. Qais Al Maskati and Chairman of EMCO Mr. Sofyan Khaled Almoayyed, also present were; Board Member of AGDC Mr. Mohammed Dhaif, EMCO Managing Director Mr. Kyriacos Yacoumi as well as, Project Manager of Amwaj Gateway Mr. Simon Kynaston and Technical Director of Davenport Campbell Mr. Brian Walford.
The contract includes the MEP, plumbing and the central air conditioning for the three buildings, the tent houses and the other parts of Amwaj Gateway Project.

Vice presedent of AGDC Mr. Qais Al-Maskati announced: “commented “We are extremely satisfied with the progress we are achieving on the development of Amwaj Gateway, and this contract we have signed with EMCO further ensures that we maintain the high standards of quality we have set for this project. Furthermore, this agreement will provide further opportunities and cooperation on future projects between the two companies.”
“EMCO was awarded the MEP contract due to its extensive, knowledge, qualifications and experience in the field of mechanical and electrical contracting in Bahrain and throughout the GCC region, such as the work carried out on the Khalifa Bin Salman Port and Industrial Area in Hidd in addition to its involvement in other project on Amwaj Islands.” he added.

Chairman of EMCO Mr. Sofyan Almoayyed stated: “It is a great opportunity to be working with Amwaj Development Co. on such a world-class project. EMCO is renowned for its involvement in prestigious and landmark projects around the Kingdom and the Gulf region.

Board Member of AGDC Mr. Mohammed Dhaif added: “the signing of this contract between Amwaj Gateway and EMCO is a long-term strategy which will allow the relationship between the two companies to grow and cooperate on future projects. EMCO will begin as initial construction by the main contractor Kurokova has already begun, and EMCO as the MEP consultant will be working simultaneously with Kurokova throughout the duration of the project.


Amwaj Gateway is being developed by RealCAPITA, to provide different types of townhouses and apartments housed in three 20-stories towers. The project accommodates a total of 550 different residential units. The development will house the necessary facilities and infrastructure that comes at the forefront of luxurious living such as serviced apartments, restaurants, commercial outlets, swimming pools, gymnasium and a private beach all within a gated community embodying the true “access to luxury”. The location of the development is unique in terms of its zoning. It’s the only plot in Amwaj Islands to contain such an integrated mix of facilities with unrestricted sea view and its own private beach. The development (estimated to cost US$ 200 millions) is located by the entrance of Amwaj Islands covering a land area approximately 360,000 square feet
RealCAPITA is a Bahraini real estate firm, established in February 2006 with an authorized paid up capital of $56.16 million.
